Copenhagen | Dirty floors, biking and a jazz cruise

We spent 4 days in Copenhagen, Denmark before heading out to Fyn (more on that later). We rented bikes and cruised around the city. Much like Amsterdam, Copenhagen is nice and flat, built on canals and easy to get around. We stayed just outside the historic center in a mostly clean but super cute AirBnB. We didn't have a huge agenda so mostly just spent our time wandering. We took a jazz cruise (one of the highlights of the trip for me!) one evening, went to Carlsburg Brewery another afternoon, found SKYR froyo (Icelandic yogurt - so good!), and went to bakeries and coffee almost everyday.

The floors were dirty at our flat in Copenhagen. I tried not to judge our young host. The flat looked clean but actually needed a good vacuum and mop. You know how it can look clean but soon as you walk on it, you know. It's not clean. You either wear shoes all the time or your feet get dirty and gross. And then the bathroom. It was one of those weird wet-rooms. Ugh. I hate wet-rooms. I know it's space efficient, but I just find them gross. EVERYTHING GETS WET WHEN YOU TAKE A SHOWER. How is that efficient?!

But let's stop talking about bathrooms shall we? Highlight of Copenhagen (and nearly our entire trip) was taking this more-or-less retirees jazz cruise (even better was that it was a Dixie band!) around the canals of Denmark. We'd had a weird day, hadn't had much luck riding our bikes around town, were hungry, couldn't find something to eat that wasn't a total tourist trap, and finally bought some sandwiches at a bakery and some beer at a corner store and got on our cruise. We seriously ended up having the best of times. The people watching was hysterical, the band decent to awesome (or at the very least entertaining), our sandwiches and beer ended up being some of the best food we'd had in Copenhagen, the weather was awesome and honestly having someone else boat us around for a couple hours was just plain wonderful.

On our last day in Copenhagen, we had a blast biking around the city. We were aiming for a pretty chill day and that's exactly what we got! We biked over to an outer neighborhood to visit Carlsberg Brewery which was super cool. We then found a Skyr froyo place near by. We loved Skyr when we visited Iceland a couple years ago so finding fro-yo Skyr was a total WIN. So delicious! It started raining shortly after we left, so we went next door to a bakery and go some coffee and tea and just relaxed for a bit.

We ended our afternoon by checking out this converted warehouse space food market / food truck sort of thing? It was wicked busy but we managed to score some chairs right on the water. Soaking up the views and a little sun + a delicious adult beverage = happiness.

Copenhagen! You were a beautiful and relaxing city. We were pooped when we visited you so I'm not sure we truly enjoyed all there was to see. But you have a wonderful jazz cruise that I would return to in a heartbeat.
